Research: Typical Crime Directors

Below is a few well known famous crime directors, who in their time have played a pivital role in the way crime is shown in films. Over the years, crime has become more advanced as the real world has allowed the opportunity for new crime.


Alfred Hitchcock

Born: 13th August 1899, London

Died: 29th April 1980 aged 80

Occupation: Film director

Alfred Hitchcock was an English filmmaker and producer specialising in suspence and psychological thriller genres. Hitchcock's career spanned out for more than half a century, Hitchcock fashioned for himself a distinctive and recognisable directorial style.

Often regarded as the greatest British filmmaker, Alfred enjoyed a final, late twist in the endings of his movies with thrilling plots.

Alfred Hitchcock filmed many films such as Dial M for murder, North by Northwest and Vertigo.




John Huston


Born: August 5th 1906

Died: August 28th 1987


Occupation: Film Director


John Huston was an American film director, screenwritter and actor. He wrote most of the 37 films he directed, many of which are today considered as classics.
During his 46 year career, Huston he recieved 15 Oscar nominations. Most of Huston's films were adaptations of important novels, often representing a heroic quest. Many of Huston's themes also involved religion, meaning, truth, freedom, psychology, colonialism and war.


John Huston filmed many films such as Red Badge of Courage and Moby Dick.
